I would like to share with you the story of a young mother whom I know.

Oulange was apart of Monique's household when I first went there in 1993. Monique was keeping four 'give away' young girls at that time.

A few years later Oulange chose to leave the protection of the household and went to Port-Au-Prince. That is always bad news. Again a few years later I saw her and she was with her mother in Mirebalais. She was being treated for TB.

Later I lost sight of her until she came to the mission. She had heard that I was there. She was seven months pregnant. I hid in my room and cried. Not because of her condition, but knowing the life of misery that was to come. Her man refused to marry her, but stayed with her in Port-Au-Prince.

Two years later she had another baby, and then her man died. She is now with her mother again with her two girls, both of whom are in school.

Now she is afflicted with a mysterious fever that causes terrible pains to her stomach. Two different hospitals have not been able to find the cause. Multiple medications have not helped at all.

Her mother has inadequate housing and is too poor to take care of them. At the moment they are under our care at the mission, but what they really need is adequate housing and help with food and living expenses. Building them a home on their own property would cost $US 1200. Food and living expenses would cost $US 200 per month. Please pray for them and consider how you might be able to help them with their needs.

The story of Oulange is just one of thousands. This is why the Lord has guided us into that area - to reach out and take care of both soul and body.

Raymond.
