About the Mission

  • The mission is located in the village of Duffailly.
  • This project was started in Sept. 1993 by Raymond Fillion as a retirement venture.
  • After 12 years we operate a school of 477 students (2005) as well as 150+ in our two satellite schools in neighbouring villages.
  • We have 14 teachers; operating costs are approx USD $1,200 per month.
  • Our school has a good reputation with the Department of Education based on the performance of students in government testing.
  • We feed 250+ children bread and peanut butter four days a week at a cost of almost USD $5,000 per year.
  • We feed rice to 57 families twice a month at a cost of USD $ 9,000 per year. Because of the political unrest and rebellion, the whole country is in disaster and this type of assistance is absolutely neccesary for many.
  • This last year we built 20 houses for homeless families at a cost of USD $800 each. Because of the rise in the cost of living, a house now costs USD $ 1,200. (The cost of gasoline is $7.50 per gallon)

Forever Changing!

The mission is ever changing. “change” seems to be the theme activated by the living condition of the area in which we are. But then how do we break the cycle of poverty for good? We have started four new programs that could be part of the answer.
